Talent & Culture

A non-clinic day is a workday without patients.
A PTO day is a day you don't work.

That's the whole distinction. Everything on this page is detail — but if you remember one line, remember that one.

The One-Question Test

Every gray area, settled

Not sure whether a day needs PTO? Ask yourself this:

Could your team reach you today — and would you respond?

Yes — it's a workday

  • You're reachable and responsive
  • Documentation, KIMEU, or team work gets done as needed
  • No patients on the schedule? Still a workday
  • Left early or arrived late? Still a workday — partial days are never charged

No PTO needed

No — it's a PTO day

  • You're fully offline and unavailable
  • Nobody expects to reach you, and that's the point
  • Visit count doesn't matter — finished or not, absence is absence
  • Submit it in ADP and enjoy it guilt-free

That's what your PTO bank is for

No patients ≠ no work. Offline = PTO.

A quiet schedule doesn't end your workday, and one answered message doesn't turn a day at the lake into a workday. Both directions matter.

Your Workweek

Defined once, clearly

How many days you spend in the clinic is a scheduling choice. It never changes how many paid workdays you have.

1.0 FTE — Full-Time
5 paid workdays, Monday–Friday In-clinic days: 3, 4, or 5 — your choice. A full week off is 5 PTO days.
0.8 FTE — Modified Schedule
4 paid workdays, per your written agreement In-clinic days: 3 or 4 — your choice. The unscheduled fifth day is outside your workweek. A full week off is 4 PTO days.

Any day inside your paid workweek without patient visits is a non-clinic workday — you're on payroll, professionally engaged, and available to your team. It's a different shape of workday, not a day off.

The flexibility runs 3 to 5 — not lower

Three in-clinic days is the floor at 1.0 FTE (three or four at 0.8 FTE). A schedule below the floor isn't a scheduling choice the policy offers — it can't support your base visits, and it makes you hard for patients to book and hard for your team to reach. If your week is trending below three clinic days, talk to your Regional Director before it becomes a pattern.

Choosing to work Saturdays

Some clinicians prefer to see patients on a Saturday and take shorter days earlier in the week. That's a distribution choice you're free to make — and because KIME never charges salary or PTO for partial days, shifting your hours around the week costs you nothing.

Saturday is a distribution choice — not a sixth workday

Your paid workweek stays Monday through Friday. Saturday work never banks credit against a weekday: if you're fully offline on a Monday–Friday workday, that's a PTO day regardless of what you worked over the weekend. The upside is real, though — Saturday visits count toward your monthly visit totals, which means they count toward gainshare like any other visits.

Planning to work Saturdays regularly? Coordinate with your Regional Director first — building access, front-office coverage, and working solo in the facility are operational questions your RD needs to sign off on.

The Honest Answer

What about days when you're fully caught up?

Documentation done. KIMEU current. No meetings. It happens.

Professional availability itself fulfills the workday. You are not required to manufacture tasks, log busywork, or sit at a desk to prove presence. Being reachable and present as a licensed professional is the job on that day — and if you're genuinely caught up on everything, you've earned a quiet one.

Want to be fully offline instead?

That's exactly what PTO is for — and KIME wants you to use it. Submit in ADP, get approval before booking anything, and go enjoy it.

Compensation

Your salary and your gainshare are two different things

These get conflated all the time. Keeping them separate makes everything clearer.

Base Salary

Wages — protected by law

What triggers it
Being employed in your role.
Visit link
None. Your salary is not contingent on visit count.
PTO link
Full-day absence from a paid workday draws from your PTO bank.

Gainshare

Performance — uncapped

What triggers it
Visits above your monthly base threshold.
Visit link
Direct. Base visits vary by workdays in the month; paid holidays reduce them.
PTO link
PTO doesn't change the base — it's reviewed as context when looking at performance.

Finishing your visits doesn't end your salary obligations for the week — and missing a target never reduces your salary. One system pays the professional. The other rewards performance.

The Deal

Autonomy — and the other half

We don't manage your time. We manage your results. When results are strong, your autonomy is absolute.

Nobody at KIME is watching a clock. Your documentation is current or it isn't. Your KIMEU phases are moving or they aren't. Your patients would recommend you or they wouldn't. When the results are there, how you shape your days is entirely yours.

This is what treating you like a licensed professional actually means: you're trusted with the how, and you own the what. Protect that deal — it's rarer than you think.

Smart Planning

Make your PTO work harder

Smart planning stretches the same days further.

Take a Friday offTwo full weekends bookend your week away — up to 10 consecutive days off using 6 PTO days.
Plan around paid holidaysA holiday week means fewer PTO days for the same time away.
Going longer?Once per rolling 12 months you can take a vacation of 6 or more consecutive business days.
Before you bookSubmit in ADP and wait for written approval before committing money to travel.
